The oral cavity
This topic is not well known by many people. Our mouths can say a lot of things related to our health and it is the most important part of our body because, through that, the food comes into our organism as well as germs. The majority of illnesses attacking human beings are produced by bad habits in hygiene. In addition, the dentist can realize some things just by examining your oral cavity. For instance, hormonal changes such as menstruating, pregnancy, and other aspects which are part of your privacy like your sexual activity.
Menstruation brings several hormonal alterations to all our systems. It is reflected in our mood or physical development and can be observed in the mouth. The way to notice these is through the gums due to they are more vulnerable. The estrogens and progesterone produce a big quantity of blood flow in your gums because of that they are sensible and the appearance of plaque and bacteria becomes stronger. All these things cause your gums to get inflamed, swell and bleed, have oral sores, or swollen salivary glands.
During pregnancy, the changes are similar to the first one because the hormones are elevated. The principal symptom is gingivitis which is caused by enamel erosion due to nausea and vomiting. The gums in gingivitis are red, swollen, and irritable surrounding the base of the teeth so they tend to bleed when brushing their teeth.
